Moving companies provide storage for your belongings, they will pack them all up and store them in a secure place until you need them back.  On the downside, you can’t just get to your stuff when you want to.  If it is possible for you to access it you normally need to make an appointment.  This is the most expensive option but for you the least work and most risk free.

Self storage units have popped up all over and are frequently used.  Many now offer added security and climate controlled storage.  This option is less expensive but you have to do all the work, meaning, packing, transporting and unloading.  On the up side you normally have access to your belongings 24/7.

The mobile storage unit is the latest thing in storage.  The company simply brings you the container and you fill it at your leisure, call when you are ready for pick up and it is gone.  Of course, you still have to pack your items and pack them into the container as well.  The downside is that access to your goods may be limited to appointment only and you need to make sure the container is stored in a secure spot and are protected from the elements.
